PEACH COBBLER RECIPE

Now you all know I simply had to have this recipe on my blog!

I was first introduced to this delectable delight before GoG made them more luscious in my eyes!!  Loving peaches, I took on a chef who was on an American Exchange programme, he came from Louisanna and as a leaving gift cooked a three course meal traditional to his region.   For dessert, I was introduced to this and went straight home and cooked it for my family......it is their No.1 treat and it has to be amongst the best comfort puddings I know of.

As my friend Penny59 would say....."yummmmmm" but I am pretty sure at the time she was drooling over a picture of GoG rather than a dish of steamy Peach Cobbler!!   Peaches does that to a girl!

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups sliced peeled peaches, about 8 medium peaches
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation:

Grease a 2-quart shallow baking dish. Heat oven to 375°.In a bowl, beat egg with 1/2 cup of the sugar, the melted butter, and the milk. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt; stir into the first mixture until smooth and well blended.
combine the peaches with the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and the spices. Put in the prepared baking dish. Spoon batter evenly over the peaches then gently spread to cover. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the crust is nicely browned.
